Marion has been part of the Peninsula team for three and a half years. Joining in January 2012, Marion has flourished in her time here. Always a hit with clients, Marion throws herself into everything she does, with a real passion that epitomises the very essence of everything that Peninsula Care stands for. In her first couple of years with Peninsula, Marion worked a variety of shifts. She was often asked back by clients to cover any further sickness or absence. Building a good reputation with clients meant that Marion has never been short of work in her time at Peninsula.

More recently Marion decided that she wanted a better work/life balance, and wanted consistent hours to suit her needs. This is where working for Peninsula really helped Marion. Now she works 5 mornings per week keeping her evenings and weekends free for herself. This may not have been possible for Marion if she worked directly for a Care Home. Marion stated that, “Agency works well for me. I can work the hours I want. I can choose where and when I want to work, and I can take my holidays when I like, with paid leave.”

Marion has a wealth of care experience and is used to working unsocial hours throughout her life, it often comes as part and parcel of the health care sector, but now she is glad to be able to work the hours that suit her, and her family commitments. Marion stated that, “I have worked in care for over 40 years, working all shifts including early shifts, late shifts, and nights. I wanted take it easier now and be able to spend more time at home, so I only work mornings, which suits great.”

Speaking about her favourite part of the job, Marion said, “No two days are ever the same. In the care industry you come across so many interesting people on a daily basis, who have their own stories to tell. You can’t help but build relationships with the residents in the care home. They become like friends.” When asked why she chose Peninsula Marion said, “In my previous job before joining Peninsula I worked on a rota basis and although the majority of the time the rotas did fit around my personal life, there is often sickness and absence within the care industry and you often have to switch shifts to cover the absences.

It is sometimes difficult when you have family commitments, so I decided to lift the phone and call Jonny at Peninsula. I had heard that they were the best agency to work for in terms of training, working conditions, and salary. Jonny assured me that I could work exactly the hours that suited my own needs, and I have done that ever since. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peninsula for everything they have done for me since joining. They have made me feel like a vital part of their team, and they often have social events giving the staff opportunities to meet other employees and let their hair down.”
