Overall Heart of Peninsula Janice, Jonny, Pam, Mayor

November 8th 2019 saw Health Care Assistant Janice McKay, pick up the highest accolade at the Heart of Peninsula Care Awards.

Janice earlier that evening won the category of Client Choice Award having been nominated by Manager and staff at Blair Lodge Residential Home, Bangor. Having read through all nominations the judging panel awarded Janice with the Overall Heart of Peninsula Care.

Janice has been working in care for now 25 years which started back when she cared for her grandmother, in doing this she realised she could help others and bring comfort to those in their final days. As an employee for over 3 years, having joined the Agency in the role of Health Care Assistant, she joined Peninsula Care as the company was recommended by friends. “They are great to work for with the flexibility in her hours which I can work around being a granny myself. They are very supportive, and I feel I am a valued member of the team” she commented.

In each of her 3 years of service she has been nominated for Client Choice every year which only shows the hard work and dedication Janice puts into her job.

After the awards we caught up with Janice to find out how it feels to win Peninsula Care’s highest accolade. Janice commented:

“I feel very humbled winning the overall award, especially knowing there are so many deserving winners who do similar roles as myself. I also feel very proud that I was chosen, and I am glad I followed my career path in care. I enjoy the interaction with clients, chatting to them and helping to provide care in a dignified way. To me, clients feel like part of the family.”

Director of Peninsula Care Jonny Cook stated:

“I am very proud to call Janice one of my valued and hard-working team. She is a very caring individual and has been a huge asset to our team. Janice lives and breathes the ethos of the organisation that caring is everything to us every day. I feel the judges made the right decision in awarding her the title of being the Heart of Peninsula Care. I know Janice will continue to be part of the Peninsula Care journey in the years to come.”

Janice scoops not only a beautiful trophy but also tickets to Nathan Carter’s Christmas concert and £250 cash.
