Debs Taggart’s Life as a “Community Carer’
Debs joined the company in late 2014 in the role of Finance Support working alongside our Accounts Manager in supporting him with Payroll and Accounts Administration. Gelling immediately with her colleagues Debs took a real interest in the day to day operations within the business. Covering reception at times she was able to speak with some of the service users as they rang in and often wondered about how they lived at home and about the support they received as many lived alone and some with no family support.
Debs then asked to apply and join our Care at Home team so she could see for herself and become involved in a job that she¬†had seen so many of our staff enjoy. She then had undergone extensive training in our very own Training Academy to meet¬†the needs of her job role. Debs stated, ” I found the induction training very beneficial and it provided a good foundation for¬†me. The training clarifies your role and responsibilities in becoming a community care worker.”
Debs commented that her favourite thing about being in this new role was ” seeing and caring for each service user, making¬†them smile or laugh, the feeling of accomplishment! One of the¬†most rewarding things about being a care worker is to come¬†away from their home and feel that you’ve made a difference to¬†their day, even if it is for a short amount of time.”¬†Peninsula Care will provide you with a range of opportunities to¬†make this an easy career change, offer the guidance and support¬†each step of the way. What is Debs advice on considering a¬†career change? She says ” I appreciate that a career change is an¬†important decision and can be overwhelming. My advice would¬†be to go for the change and embrace it. In the end we only
