Over the past couple of weeks we have learned the story of Cavan O’Neill. Cavan is two years old. His parents discovered he had Cerebral Palsy, a specific kind called spastic diplegia, after an MRI scan when he was 18 months old. They learned that he would struggle to walk unaided, if he ever would walk but they have since discovered surgery in America (St Louis‚Äô Children‚Äôs Hospital, Missouri) and been accepted with extremely positive post operative predictions including ‚Äòwalking in all environments unaided‚Äô and even playing sports.

Cavan’s parents are working with UK charity Tree of Hope to raise the funds. Tree of Hope will facilitate the entire financial process of the fundraising efforts. http://www.treeofhope.org.uk/cavans-first-steps/

Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy is a spinal surgery that permanently cuts the nerves that cause spasticity in the legs. The concluding result is freedom of movement without pain and tightness. Intensive post operative therapy is also required.

Sadly this life changing surgery and care costs a total of £80,000 which his parents are now focused on raising. Peninsula Care have been extremely touched by Cavans story and are pleased to be able to support Cavans First Steps as a chosen charity.

Our recent Heart of Peninsula Care Awards raised £200 for the cause by simple donations and a raffle with prizes all donated.

We are calling out for all our staff, clients and followers of Peninsula Care to help us support Cavan’s First Steps on their quest for life changing funds. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook pages for further fundraising events you¬† can be part of.
