We are delighted to launch our new “Young Stars Intern Programme” which is aimed at those aged 16-21 which is perfect for those leaving school or further education.

Our program will take in applications from those wishing to commence on a career in social care. The successful candidates will be recruited by the organisation and given part time employment during which time they will undertake a QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care and receive mentor-ship from one of our Senior Staff.

We expect this new scheme to be extremely popular so there is a cap of 20 applications as there are four places on this program.

Zoe left school after completing her GCSE’s and having a mother who worked in the care industry she had a great insight as to what the job was about. Zoe began her work with Peninsula Care and has now completed her QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care. Zoe is a great asset to our team and is much thought of by her clients.

Cameron, a pupil at Regent House wanted a part time flexible role that would give him experience in patient contact. Cameron has just completed his A Levels and is working throughout the summer to earn that extra money to enjoy also before starting his degree in Microbiology.

Top tips to a career with Peninsula Care

For those looking more fixed hours we can offer block bookings to ensure you get the amount of amount of hours you need on a weekly basis.

You don’t need to worry about any of the above. We offer the flexibility that permanent jobs cannot. We find out your needs, and try our very best to get you the working hours that suit you. With morning, afternoon, evening, and night shifts available, as well as sleepovers, there is something to suit everyone.

Keep an open mind – We supply to a number of different care settings including:

• Nursing Homes
• Residential Homes
• Learning Difficulty Units
• Day Centres
• Supported Living Houses
• Hospices
• Domiciliary Care/Homecare

We recommend not excluding yourself from any type of care work. Although your experience may be in one particular setting, we often find staff members who try something different get on really well and enjoy the variation in their work. If you don’t like a particular setting, at least you have tried it. You have nothing to lose.

Availability РKeep us updated of your availability as far in advance as you can. Each Monday we send a text to ask what you are available to work for the upcoming week, but we understand people with other jobs may have rotas further in advance. We often have shifts available for weeks ahead and by letting us know when you can work, you can secure this shifts well in advance.

Priority on shifts will always be given to those who have informed us of their availability before being send to other staff.

Self Book - We promote self booking to our staff. If you work with a client and get on well, and enjoy your shift, there is no problem leaving them your personal number to contact you directly if they need any additional cover. This means you get first choice of the shifts with that particular client.

Professional Development – At Peninsula, we offer staff the chance to progress in your career. We run yearly QCF Level 2 & 3 courses in Health & Social Care, which are offered at a subsidised rate. Employees can save as much as 75% on regular course fees, and this can de deducted from your weekly wage so it is paid off in small manageable payments.

Our Care at Home division submitted an application for consideration by the judging panel and are pleasantly surprised to be confirmed as finalist in the following categories.

Healthcare Business of the Year

A specialist category, aimed at small business enterprises in the healthcare field here in Northern Ireland. This category is open to all business-led healthcare related organisations including opticians, dental practices and enterprises such as care homes for the elderly.

Customer Focus Award

The judging panel will single out the local small business which most effectively brings to life best practice in customer service across all of its operations. The judges will look for clear evidence of customer satisfaction.

Our Director Jonny Cook stated, ” Once again I am shocked to learn we have made it to the final of another awards ceremony. I thought two awards would be our limit but who knows? It is a real honour to make it to the final stages and I have a committed team of management and healthcare staff to get us there. Our Care at Home team work tirelessly to bring about a quality driven care service to those who are vulnerable living at home and it is them that this award is for. ”

The second awards ceremony is set to take place on Thursday 2nd June 2016 in the prestigious surroundings of La Mon Hotel. We at Peninsula Care are very excited now and also wish all other finalists the best of luck on the night.

Well we provide the best quality in temporary staff, the best quality of a Domiciliary care service and also the best training in our Training Academy.

As we have grown and expanded our staff team, services and client base our cosy office in Movilla Street is no longer suitable to operate our business how we want to. We have now secured new premises in Church Street which is currently undergoing refurbishment to provide bright and spacious accommodation. We are looking forward to having a bright and comfortable Reception area as well as our own training suite for our Training Academy.

Jonny is looking forward to the move despite being a big part of Movilla Street for the past 6 years. He said ” it has served us well during our time here however we want to be able to offer more services to both our clients and staff which is why we need the extra space.”

• Get your shift requests in early – As soon as you know what cover is needed, let us know. This way we have the best possible chance of getting cover for you, and in particular the staff who are familiar with your care home.
• Self book – If we provide you with staff and they get on well with you, we don’t mind if you ask for their number and contact them directly with shifts, or let them pick up whatever shifts are required whilst they are in the home. Alternatively if staff do not fit in to your team dynamic, don’t be afraid to tell us. We want both our employees and clients alike to be happy in their work.
• Block Book – If you may be interested in taking on one of our employees on a permanent basis, we can accommodate this for you by means of a one-off ‘finders fee,¬†or an extended block booking period, after which no fee is required.
